About Us

More than a Church

Castlewood First Presbyterian Church, a congregation in Castlewood, offers members - and visitors - a chance to become part of something greater. To grow in their love of God and for one another within our beautiful community.

We are a young-at-heart church well known in the area for our youth groups and Christian education programs. We care about kids. We are an ecumenical church valuing our sisters and brothers regardless of church background. Our Sunday School, youth groups and Vacation Bible school are available to all in the community regardless of church affiliation.

We affirm that all who receive and believe in Jesus are God's children. (John 1:12) We are an historic congregation, formed when early settlers banded together to worship God at the time of S.D. statehood circa 1889.

We minister together with our sister church, Bemis Holland Presbyterian Church of rural Clear Lake. We desire to be a faithful church. We believe God is revealed in the Bible, which we call God's Word. We strive to apply the Bible's teachings to our daily lives. We do not claim to know all things or have all wisdom. We struggle with the issues of our times.

Where the church and Sunday worship were once the major events that brought people and families together, we now see that people and families have a plethora of activities that tend to impinge on church attendance and involvement.

Above all we cling to the good news of our salvation through Jesus, and endeavor to follow His command to love God and one another.
We are rooted in the stories of the Bible and believe worship is something that can be expressed in everything we do. Our philosophy is founded on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. No matter who you are, there’s a special place for you at our church.
